About the AAM-CSD Project
The AAM-CSD project is funded by the European Union through the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, with its overall objective, was to enhance human capital development on the continent while strengthening intra‑African cooperation in higher education, as called for by Agenda 2063. The programme’s specific objectives were to: Increase the employability of students, improve the quality of higher education in Africa and its relevance to Africa’s development vision, strengthen the modernisation and internationalisation of African higher education institutions, and promote the development of an African higher education and research space.
The main aim of the AAM-CSD project is to improve education and research in African mobility by allowing Master’s students, PhD students, academic staff, and trainees to travel between partner universities. By encouraging the sharing of knowledge, skills, and effective practices, the AAM-CSD project seeks to enhance the quality and importance of higher education, boost the abilities of institutions, and support global collaboration among African universities. This initiative plays a vital role in developing a more connected and active higher education environment in Africa.
The project focuses on important topics necessary for climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable development, like agriculture, climate change, water management, renewable energy, natural resources, and environment. It offers scholarships and grants to participants for studying, researching, or training at a partner institution outside their home country. The AAM-CSD project produces skilled graduates and researchers who can tackle the climate change and urgent development issues facing the African continent. This organized mobility not only advances personal careers but also enhances the research and innovation capabilities of the universities involved, promoting long-term sustainable growth and improvement across Africa.
